The Queenie Award
Once again, the staff of your neighborhood bookstore has narrowed down their long list of books read in 2011, and chosen their Top Ten. From those lists, I create a spreadsheet to ascertain which of the many books (over 50 this year) wins the prestigious Queenie Award. One book emerged near the top of several lists and therefore, is the winner of the Queenie: The Night Cricus by Erin Morgenstern! We also had a surprise runner-up - click to learn more.
Top Picks of the Year
We all love end of the year Top Ten lists - who doesn't? Each December while the store is full and the books are flying, we are also agonizing over our favorite books of the year and how to rank them. The number one position is all-important because that helps to determine our Queenie Award Winner (our store favorite book of the year).

Our Store Book Clubs
Up next for the in-store book clubs: The Monthly Book Club will discuss Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chau and The Book Mixer will discuss A Wild Sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami.All are welcome to join. We've changed our Book a Month program! While we used to sell a traditional subscription, we now open our discount to anyone who would like to purchase the selected titles (in-store or online, shipping not included). Each month, in the five catergories below, we choose a book we're excited about and give you 15% off. Check back monthly for new titles or swing by the store to see them on display.

Map of the (oft) Pedestrian Stairs of Queen Anne
Thomas Horton's beautiful map of the stairs of Queen Anne Hill is
available in both a folded, pocket-size version and a large poster. The
folded map is printed on coated paper to make it water-resistant. The
poster is 18 x 24 inches and is suitable for framing.
